Motorola BH6X Door Review by Graham, H

A month or so ago, i bought this extended battery: BH6X, an upgrade from the (once) standard BH5X, that came with my droidx.

But the BH6X, sucked horribly compaired to the bh5x, (yes, calibrated loads of times, though its debatable whether calibration does anything for these modern batteries). With the BH5X at a full charge, my phone could idle for 18-20 HOURS before dying. The BH6X at a full charge, lasted around 2-5 hours before dying COMPLETELY in the same phone, same settings.

So I figured the BH6X extended battery i purchased was defective and never got around to contacting support.

Well now several weeks ago, my droid decided to die completely, by which i mean: refused to turn on, tried the two batteries i had, went to my local verizon store whom tested my phone with 4-5 batteries, phone did not turn on or show any signs of life. Long story short, I got a replacement phone this Monday, which did not come with a battery.

Replacement phone refused to work with the BH5X, which according to my multimeter is way under the claimed 3.7 so likely was the cause of my old droidx dying. Ok... located and dusted off the BH6X i had bought a while ago, phone works fine.

Now i am back to battery draining within 2-5 HOURS, but thats not the worse part.

My new replacement phone coupled with this battery is plagued by screen issues. My phone would act as though i was touching/pressing something when i am not even touching the phone (for example when its in a car dock, or on my tabletop), and refuse to accept any touch input, applications would not hang, but the 'ghost' input would prevent me from interacting with the phone until i toggled the screen off and back on again; this would happen seemingly randomly: sometimes seconds after turning the screen on and using some app, some times i could use my phone grief free for 20 minutes. Needless to say that its unbelievably aggravating, to be in the middling of something and have the screen go literally haywire and frequently too!

At first i thought it was a defective replacement phone, but after thorough testing and with the aid of multi-touch visualizer 2 (app), i can see that its the battery putting extra pressure on the screen; any pressure on the battery cover and the screen goes haywire, even setting the phone down on a surface with the screen up is enough force to make the screen screwy.

Obviously i seem to be the odd ball, not many people have encountered this and to be honest this did not happen with my old droidx (though i still get the same CRAPPY lifetime), so i dont know what the difference is. Maybe my phones screen is slightly defective, or maybe is a new hardware revision (though when when i got my replacement phone i compared the model, part, and hw revision numbers, all of which are identical...) that gives the BH6X less space, either way, im gonna get another replacement phone and another battery.

For the batter though, my experience with it has been horrible, standard BH5X lasted 4x-9x longer than this BH6X 'extended battery', but again from the sounds of other reviews the BH6X i received is likely defective...

Though this battery is suppose to last longer, I have had it for several months and am not not seeing any difference from the OEM. Also, the battery cover your phone came with will still fit, it's just a bit tighter.

This battery lasts about 1.5 times longer than the original battery that came with my Droid X2. I'm more than happy that I made this purchase.
